Who’s your go-to? Who’s that one person who always can help you see the wood from the trees, providing clarity in an otherwise overwhelming time?
I don’t know about you, but I’ve certainly called in favours from both friends and colleagues in recent weeks.
I’m usually the one who makes all the decisions for the business, sets the strategy, provides a clear map of where we are going. But when your role is blurry and quite frankly you’re catapulted from making jam on toast to board meeting, it’s been extremely helpful to be able to call on key partners to act as a sounding board and gift thoughts and ideas. And I simply can’t thank them all enough (and they know who they are) for being so kind and giving of their time and headspace.
We have been having training as a team during the past few weeks and it has been brilliant to sit in it myself; new skills have definitely been learnt, especially around technology, however, I don’t know whether it is self-doubt that comes in sometimes, but it has made me realise that having done this job for over 30yrs, there’s not much left for anyone to teach me about recruitment, outplacement and people planning. Thank goodness!
So it’s my turn, how can I help you? There is no doubt that we may face business challenges when it comes to our people planning over the coming weeks. If you need a sounding board, someone who can provide guidance and clarity, please do give me a call on 01904 769142, I would love to return the favour.
