This is a highly reputable established PLC in York that is currently seeking a professional and well-presented Trainee Investment Manager with a mature and competent approach to work and customers. Working as part of the Investments team, you will be supporting the Investments Director and Managers in an administrative and client facing capacity whilst being professionally trained ‘on the job’.

You will have the opportunity to gain professional qualifications that will lead to you becoming a successful Investment Manager in your own right.

The purpose of your role is to assist in building, maintaining and development of a profitable bank of Private Clients by providing administrative support to the team.

Your day will include the following:

  • Assisting in the day to day management of a designated bank of clients for Account Executives within the York office whilst developing excellent working relationships internally and externally

  • Setup of New Clients and ensuring all administration incorporates efficient recording and checking of any client detail changes

  • Acting on email instructions received from clients, as your training progresses, you will be able to advise clients

  • Liaising with trading clients on general market conditions and assisting in developing clients in a profitable manner

  • Ensuring that data maintained on behalf of clients is up to date and that adequate records are maintained

  • Maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the services offered to clients by the company

  • Monitoring client portfolio’s and chasing up any client debits

  • Attending regular or ad hoc company presentations/meetings and preparing reports

  • Collating valuations assisting in the calculation of fee invoices to send with the client valuations

The successful Trainee Investment Manager will need to have excellent communication, customer service and IT skills including Excel, Word and Powerpoint.

You will have a strong background in professional customer services or relationship management and have an intelligent and proactive approach to administration and regulatory/compliance related work. You will also have the ability to assess information, review options, make appropriate decisions and understand consequences within a regulated fast paced and pressurised environment.

A background in Financial Services would be helpful but this is not essential, you may be seeking a career change and be looking to undertake continual professional development through training.
