Happy New Year!

Well, it has certainly been an interesting first week back to work – we had been so lucky living in York and enjoying Tier 2 and as a family we managed to get out and explore, enjoy family lunches out and the occasional glass of fizz. I really hope that we are in a better place on the other side of this lockdown – I don’t know about you, but it does feel a bit easier that we know what to expect this time.

Having had the space over the break to consider the goals for my business this year, I have also spent the last few months considering my own personal goals. I don’t know about you, but the ongoing uncertainty and lack of ability to plan has created some poor habits:

  • Not moving away from my desk during the day
  • Forgetting the importance of taking time for me
  • Forgetting the working day has a start and an end
  • Running my life on zoom!

My first goal therefore is to bring back the structure I need to ensure that I have the space to be there for my family, colleagues and business connections whilst staying healthy too. As a fan of running up and down the stairs three times every time I grab a coffee etc, I am now diarising a daily walk. When I set up One to One Recruitment 10 years ago, I ensured that we met every client and candidate face to face. This is as much for the fact that it is the right thing to do as a successful recruiter, but because I love being with people. Therefore, my daily walk will involve the kids, Michael and friends I can see locally too.

The rest of my goals will come too, but one step at a time!

What’s your goal this year?
