Reporting to the Head of Operations for a successful recycling company in North Yorkshire, we are looking for an enthusiastic, engaged, motivated, Head of Logistics.


The logistics department is responsible for managing the legalities and day-to-day operational success of all transportation within the company, both domestic and export. Working closely with a large network of hauliers, freight forwarders and shipping liners to ensure all material moves efficiently and within cost to a range of valued customers spread over a global playing field.

Your role will include the following:


  • Day to day management of a small logistics team

  • Accountability for all materials arriving on time and delivered in full without any unexpected problems or issues

  • Reacting quickly, and maintaining a cool head under pressure when alternative solutions are required against the clock

  • Monitoring department KPI’s and ensuring efficiencies are being upheld

  • Attending weekly meetings reporting OTIF to the Head of Operations, Board and wider company

  • Managing internal and external relationships whilst having high level conversations and rate negotiations with suppliers

  • Digesting and understanding updates around Brexit and the ever-changing Environment Agency legislation

  • Keeping on top of current trends and announcements that will affect the business from a regulatory perspective; highlighting concerns & being accountable for implementing necessary processes

  • Querying areas of ambiguity and evaluating information from a variety of sources; coming to logical conclusions and leading change to ensure that the business is compliant, audit-ready and adapting proactively before legislation becomes mandatory.

The successful Head of Logistics will ideally have a background in logistics and be a high calibre individual who seeks to improve processes and be a ‘solution bringer’. You will have the ability to problem solve and read through complex legislation and translate that into actionable activity.

It would be highly desirable if you have export experience and an understanding of managing Brexit, customs clearance processes, material rejections and TFS though this is not essential, just a wish list...  


What is essential is that you have the confidence and experience to manage your own area/project, take accountability, and, delve deeper into potential problems areas of uncertainty.

Salary: £25-35K (depending upon experience)

Holidays: 21 days + Bank holidays

Pension: Statutory

Hours: Monday to Friday, home and office based
