We are seeking a positive and enthusiastic Finance/Accounts Apprentice looking for their first step into a permanent career. Working for a large, education-based organisation in York, you will not only have the opportunity to enter into your AAT Apprenticeship; you will also receive excellent in-house professional training and development to ensure your success within the role.

The successful Finance/Accounts Apprentice will gain experience across most areas of finance and given the opportunity to study for your AAT qualification through a recognised Level 2 Apprenticeship.

As the Finance/Accounts Apprentice your role will develop over time to support the Finance team in the following functions:

• Processing sales orders/invoices/credits/receipts, including banking amounts received
• Processing purchase orders/invoices/expense claims/credits/payments, including cheque, BACS and credit card payments
• Bank reconciliations
• Maintaining customer and supplier records & preparation of accounts journals
• Credit control & assisting in development of the accounting system, processes and reporting
• Preparing and maintaining spreadsheet analyses
• Dealing efficiently with internal/external accounts enquiries and information requests

The successful Finance Assistant will be: 

• Educated to GCSE level English and Maths grade A-C with excellent numeracy skills & attention to detail
• Excellent IT skills including Excel & Word
• Positive & enthusiastic with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.

Job Types: Full-time hours, apprenticeship scheme with a guaranteed permanent job

Salary: National living wage commensurate with your age £4.81/hr (under 18) up to £9.50/hr (age 23 +) 38 days holiday, great staff benefits & a fully funded qualification (AAT or other accounts based)
